This updated platform helps connect patients with essential care when they need it most.
Background
Strut originally developed the Find a Doctor website for Alberta Primary Care Networks in 2019. As user needs, digital technologies, and patient requirements evolved post-COVID amid a strained healthcare system, Strut was presented with an opportunity to create a new website that better serves Alberta’s growing audience and changing requirements. The original site provided foundational services, but with advancements in healthcare delivery and user expectations, a modernized platform became essential.
Objective
The primary goal was to redesign and rebuild the Find a Doctor website to enhance the user experience, better represent the PCN brand, increase engagement, and improve performance and security. The new site needed to effectively communicate the evolving health system, offer a database for finding local healthcare teams, and provide the latest information on programs and services. It also needed to have a robust backend and a flexible, user-friendly CMS that allows all primary care networks to manage content easily.

Our challenge was to create a platform that not only meets but anticipates the diverse needs of patients, healthcare partners, staff, and physician members. It had to deliver clear, intuitive navigation, provide easy access to information, and support a seamless user journey—whether users were looking for a healthcare provider, service information, or virtual care resources.

This allows users to filter and customize their search results to match their specific healthcare needs, helping them easily locate clinics that provide the exact services they require. The advanced search enables a more personalized experience, making it faster and more intuitive for users to find the right clinic.
