Helping share the story of the Indigenous Peoples of Canada

As one of the Canada 150 initiatives, Canadian Geographic produced the Indigenous Peoples Atlas of Canada, a one-of-a kind education resource — developed in partnership with the Assembly of First Nations, Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, the Métis Nation, the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation, and Indspire.

Strut was engaged to create a digital version to present a selection of content from the printed volumes. The companion mobile app also includes a Greeting Generator that provides users with opening remarks recognizing the Indigenous Peoples and Treaties of the area, through either location-based services, or manually entering place names, which also allows you to explore Canada.

The site features banner images revealed using a spreading watercolour effect, and phase two of the site will include interactive timelines and maps to encourage deeper engagement with the content.
