Custom trip-planning website SunLink maps the best route for Suncor transit users

As Canada’s largest energy producer, and the first company to develop the oil sands, Suncor operates the largest private transit system in Canada. Riders travelling from their homes in Fort McMurray to and around their oil sands site accumulate more than 12 million passenger-kilometres a year.

With nearly 100 routes between 500 stops, Suncor transit users found schedule tables and static maps difficult to understand and who could blame them? What Suncor needed was a powerful digital travel agent; what they got was a one-of-a-kind custom trip-planning website.

We built the new SunLink site on Strut's robust Insynergi™ Interactive Publishing Engine. This advanced platform not only powers the site's advance custom trip-planning tools, but it also provides custom content management functions for site content and service notifications, letting Suncor ground logistics administrators build and maintain their routes and schedules online.

SunLink lets users enter street addresses, choose from pre-set facilities and landmarks, or search based on an anticipated departure or arrival time. The website gives them the appropriate stops and routes plotted on an interactive map, along with the best schedule options to get them to their destination on time. Getting to, from and around the job site has never been easier.
